Hi Richard.
I really want to practice with historical data on jigsaw +ninja
JIGSAW
It looks like I need to purchase Jigsaw for $579 (or $879 if I want access to the advanced video training)
It sounds like one will have access to historical level 1 and level 2 unfiltered data after purchase.
But that I don't need the $50/month fee until I go live
NINJATRADER
Is it necessary to do demo trading on jigsaw with level 1 level 2 historical data?
NinjaTrader appears to be free as long as one has a funded account (of I think around $1000) with Kinetick (since they are the one with unfiltered data)
Kinetick (DTN IQfeed)
But is the IQFeed from Kinetick necessary while one is still in demo mode, or will Jigsaw be enough?
Thanks!
OK. I am figuring things out (I think).
To trade LIVE with Ninja and Jigsaw: need a $50 sub with Jigsaw, and $60/month sub with Kinetic - who will provide Ninja trader for free.
Kinetick is owned by Ninjatrader. I had asked asked a Ninja salesperson how much for level 2 data a few months ago, and he had said $50. So it may be that the cost of Kinetick is only $50 per month if you have Ninjatrader as your broker (Ninja is software but they partner with two different brokers (Dorman and Phillip Capital).
To trade demo, then I think for me I need to open my Ninja account with at least $1000, and pay for the Jigsaw software ($579). But I think the Kinetick data does not have to be subscribed to yet, until I go live.
OK, wrong again.
Ninjatrader sales rep said to me:
"Yes, the OrderFlow+ feature here is pretty awesome!. The best possible solution for you would be to open an account and access tick by tick data from CQG, which is just 7$/month for all of the CME's data. Kinetick is not owned by NinjaTrader and is not trade-routing data, so you wouldn't be able to demo trade or trade live on their feed."
Hi Randy,
Sorry for delay. Just back home from overseas and back on my fiber-optic Internet connection!! Been in the Australian bush for the last 2 weeks where Internet access was most difficult, even impossible in places.
I used to use Kinetick data with my NinjaTrader but found the data delays too bad. Switched to CQG data from AMP Futures broker and never had any problems again. Would certainly recommend you check this out. And much cheaper than Kinetick/IQ Feed as you have noted.
I trade live with my NinjaTrader v7 (now v8) with no troubles at all. Also now using the Jigsaw daytradr version of the order flow tools with no problems - direct via a NT8 Bridge which means no need for a second data payment. Jigsaw gets all data from NT8 source.
And full historical/Market Replay data can be downloaded for replay and simulation as you want. I do pay the $500/year to trade live from Jigsaw D&S but you can also trade through NT Chart Trader and DOM too of course.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more help. Just back and still a little dizzy from the flight. ; )
Well here is my update. A little slow because of day job, family and long commute. But things are moving.
Bought Jigsaw a while ago. Studied it, but it is difficult and I realized that I needed to put more work on Al's stuff.
Also Opened AMP Futures with CQG data.
But was having a hard time getting Ninja Trader, and I really wanted it because of the ability to do replay trading and even use Jigsaw with it.
The dilemma was that several years ago there was some issue with CQG (or AMP futures) and Ninja Trader no longer supported new customers who wanted to use CQG data from AMP Futures( or something like that). Older Ninja users were grandfathered in however. All rather odd since Phillip Capital (the brokerage for Ninja) allows CQG data (CQG data as you recall is unfiltered level 2 unlike IB and TradeStation - and is needed for Jigsaw).
BUT I got Ninja Trader. I was asking around and was referred to sales. And sales said "You buy the lifetime license for NT8 and we will let you use CQG data with AMP Futures." I hated to spend the cash, but the NT8 is SO AWESOME.
So all is good.
Randy
I am looking for the same setup..
Can you introduce me to this sales as well?
Thank you Randy,
Michael
